|Courage is about taking a moment to see beyond the initial biological reaction. To take a deliberate action even our brain is “screaming” something else. Taking that action is possible to everyone in 99.9 % of scary moments. We can take a helicopter view of the situation, see the bigger picture. That is what the successful people do. They don’t let the primary reaction to wash away their options for different solutions.
|Seeing option, rising above the next 10 seconds, require two things. First you need to practice the skill of stopping for a moment. A moment which seldom is longer than 10 seconds and after practicing it is just about 3 seconds. Secondly you need to understand your emotional intelligence structure. What drives you, what builds number or even walls to your thinking?|
|What really scared you? Is it the novelty? Or is it the speed of decision making? Or maybe (like I have) the strong emotional outburst of the other person? Courage is not about not being afraid. Courage is about looking what made you scared and taking action that are good for you on longer terms. We tend to react to scary things with a time window of seconds. That is fine if you are about to hit a car, face violence. But in business and in planning life (and career) the things we need to look at weeks, months and even years. Successful people live in today, but they are constantly learning for tomorrow.
|As you learn to be brave (again, being brave is not about not being afraid), you learn to lead your mind and thinking. You learn to see option where others see just escape route. You learn how to convert tough situation to opportunities.|
|The one lesson I have learnt from great leaders I have talked and worked with is “most of the time we make failures and mistakes bigger than what others do”. Everyone makes a mistake, courage is about accepting that and using a mistake as a learning platform. Learn to do differently, not just to avoid.
|There is not a single successful person, no matter what part of life we look at, who hasn’t practiced to be better. Success is not about being perfect, but having the will and skill to learn. The most powerful lesson we get, are the ones with strong emotions. And being scared is a very powerful emotion. It can be your friend, if you choose so.|
|Courage is using your mind to expand your comfort zone. Nothing more, nothing less. The rewards are great, both for your personal and business life. It is success, your way, just like you want it.
|After all, it is your life you are living, not someone else’s life. Have the courage, get the life.|
|I have been scared like hell, when I was 18. A doctor told me, that my chances to live more than 6 months are very slim. Just single per centage. Didn’t have any understanding of how that could be good for me. Now I can say, that it was the key for me to live my life my way. It gave me the courage to face the opportunities life has given me. And I can now say “I have lived”. And will continue to live. If you want support for your future, don’t hesitate to get in touch with me.|
